Meet the Founder of The Waving Axolotl

Hey there! I’m the proud founder of The Waving Axolotl, where my passion for unusual pets shines through. As a devoted dog, axolotl, turtle, fish, and bearded dragon mom, my life is a delightful chaos of critters!

My journey with axolotls began in an unexpected way—I was helping my niece with a school project all about axolotls. I quickly fell head over heels for these adorable little aliens! Each axolotl has its unique personality, and I love diving deeper into their quirks and charms.

By day, I work in IT/IS, which allows me the flexibility to work from home. This means I get to spend more quality time with my furry and scaly kids and my wonderful family. When I’m not wrangling my critters, you can usually find me with a camera in hand, capturing the beauty of nature during walks with my dogs (and fingers crossed, my bearded dragon too!).

In those rare moments of downtime, I indulge in my love of reading and writing. I can’t wait to share the joys and adventures of having these extraordinary pets with you. Welcome to our vibrant family of Axolotl lovers!

At The Waving Axolotl, we believe every family member deserves a bit of spotlight, and we're thrilled to introduce someone who embodies that spirit of connection!

Meet our fantastic social media manager and business partner, a wonderful mom to three incredible kids and a proud keeper of a menagerie that would make anyone's heart skip a beat. Starting as a devoted customer at the end of 2023, she found her way into our family through her love for Lotney, her charming Melanoid Axolotl. Little did she know that this was just the beginning of her axolotl adventure!

Her passion for these unique creatures quickly bloomed into an obsession, fueling her enthusiasm for sharing the wonders of axolotls with all of us. While she juggles being a super mom, she also embraces the joys of work-from-home life, giving her the flexibility to enjoy precious moments with her children, fiancé, and a delightful array of critters, including two dogs, three cats, two turtles, fish, and leopard geckos.

When she's not busy supporting our community or caring for her aquatic friends, you’ll find her fishing, soaking up the sun at the beach, or enjoying cozy movie nights once the kids are tucked in. Her vibrant presence is a reminder that every day is an adventure, especially when shared with family—whether they have fins, fur, or feathers!

Nick

Maintenance & Hero

Nick is the unofficial superhero of the household, donning the title of "Water Boy" with pride. With skills honed from days spent in carpentry and construction, he tackles the heavy lifting needed to turn our aquatics dreams into reality. Whether it's hauling massive tanks, lugging countless buckets of water, or rearranging furniture to accommodate more delightful aquariums and enclosures, Nick is the go-to guy for all things heavy.

When he’s not flexing his aquatics skills, he’s flexing his dad skills, creating countless fun memories with Kaliah and their three fantastic kiddos. Family time is his playground, and from backyard games to movie nights, he revels in every moment with them. His loyal sidekick, Ollie, the dog, is always at his heels, adding just the right dash of furry chaos to their adventures.

Despite the grind of daily life, Nick has a soft spot for the axolotls that swim gracefully beneath the surface. He shares the same enchantment with these quirky creatures as the rest of The Waving Axolotl crew, often stealing moments to observe their antics between home improvement projects. With a combination of strength, love, and a heaping helping of laughter, Nick makes family life—and all things critter—a joyfully chaotic experience.
